Art Therapy

Art Therapy refers to a psycho-therapeutic treatment used to help with psychological issues through the means of art. It is based on the idea that expression of one’s creativity can be healing and help with mental health and wellness. Art therapy is often used in combination with other modalities of therapy but it is also found to be effective when done without other therapies.

There are various techniques used in Art Therapy:

Coloring
Drawing
Painting
Sculpting
Finger Painting
Doodling

It actually helps people use their creativity to express themselves to gain insights about oneself, thereby developing healthier coping techniques and mechanisms. It is often misunderstood that one needs to be good with artistic abilities or creativity to undergo art therapy sessions but in reality, anyone who would like to explore themselves can take art therapy and work on themselves. Art therapy is also found to be quite effective when working with children as they are often not able to word their issues. Hence, the therapy helps create a rapport with the children and makes interaction and comprehension easier.

It can be helpful with various issues:

Stress, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Eating Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, Relationship Issues, Medical Issues
