Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt Therapy is a holistic and humanistic approach to therapy, drawing from the client-centered approach. It helps focus in the present; issues related to the present circumstances rather than the past. It is based upon the premise that the whole is more important than the sum of all the parts. It stresses upon the way one perceives their surrounding, issues and experiences. It was developed by Perls and his wife during the 1940's and was put forth as an alternative form of psychotherapy that can be used instead of traditional form of psychoanalysis. Gestalt Therapy focuses on the person and their unique perspective about their experiences. The therapist holds the space to openly express their issues to understand the context, as context is the key. It believes that effective communication leads to better insights. It also helps people with self-growth and self-regulation measures.
It can be helpful with various issues:
- Anxiety
Self-esteem
