Positive Psychotherapy (PPT)
Positive Psycho Therapy works on reorientation of the therapeutic settings being directed towards support, to help overcome hurdles, work on self-growth, become resilient and promote holistic well-being. PPT is a relatively new form of psychotherapy that draws from the psycho dynamic, humanistic and trans-cultural approaches. PPT is about walking away from what is disturbing and working on what is good, positive and helpful.
PPT is based upon 03 main principles:
Hope – Emphasis on hopefulness and positivity
Balance – Emphasis on striking a balance between negative experiences and effective coping mechanisms
Consultation – Working through negative experiences and achieving positive outcomes
PPT utilizes various metaphors and multicultural stories that can be motivating to one’s issue from a unique positive perspective. The client plays an active role in their own healing process. The beginning of PPT is about the client providing information about the challenges and issues being faced by them. The therapist works in collaboration with the client and explores the issue in-depth and highlights the individual’s abilities. The individual is helped to focus on their strengths and positive features. The client is motivated to explore their negative emotions and be vocal about their challenges and difficulties. The goals are set for therapeutic processes and work is put towards positive aspects and connecting the clients to their unique abilities.
It can be helpful with various issues:
- Empowerment, Stress Management, Borderline Personality Disorder, Cross Cultural Relationships, Self Esteem, Self Growth
