Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy helps those struggling with irrational beliefs and negative thought patterns that affects their emotional and behavioral aspects of life. REBT recognize their negative thought patterns and helps them work through those by developing rational thoughts. Albert Ellis introduced REBT in the early 1950’s. When traditional methods failed to modify the behavior of any of his patients, Ellis was inspired to create this new psychotherapy. Ellis continued to work on REBT until his death in 2007. It is one of the most widely utilized psychotherapies due to its effectiveness and short duration of treatment. It is primarily based on the notion that people want to be happy in their lives, but this might be difficult to attain owing to incorrect conviction and negative thinking patterns that obstruct their path to pleasure. It focuses on problem-solving abilities, cognitive restructuring, and healthy coping methods for the individual.
